Maloney denies exit talk

Wigan Athletic forward Shaun Maloney has said in no uncertain terms that he is happy to remain at DW Stadium.

The experienced footballer only recently signed a new deal with the Latics, but he is believed to be on the radar of England’s top clubs.

With Wigan likely to suffer relegation to the Championship, there is a good chance the Scotland international will be sold, but he doesn’t seem to be thinking about the summer exit.

“I signed a new deal in January and I’m enjoying my football,” Maloney was quoted as saying in the Daily Record. “I hope that continues.”

Maloney had a slow start to his career at Wigan, but he has exploded onto the biggest stage this season.

The 30-year-old scored 5 goals and set up 8 more in 34 Premier League appearances, while playing a key role in team’s FA Cup success.

It does appear this is the right time for Maloney to leave Wigan for a bigger club, but prizing him away from DW Stadium will prove to be no easy task for interested sides.
